Goal Setting

 Goal setting is a process in which we create our ideal future, a way to be intentional about our career path and accomplishments, and a concrete way to achieve the success we envision.  Effective goal setting includes developing an action plan which includes: goals, action items, timelines for completion, resources and support needed, and strategies to overcome obstacles.

To begin the goal setting process, it is necessary to understand what options are available and which options best meets your desires and motivation for the future. 

The following represents six major options for career development. 

CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPTIONS SECTION

Option One:  Stay In Your Current Agency: Grow in Current Job

Option Two:  Stay In Current Agency: Move to a Different Job

Option Three: Seek Same Job/Career in Different Agency

Option Four: Seek Different Job/Career in Different Agency

Option Five: Stay in Current Agency, Work towards Advancement

Option Six: Make Major Life-Style or Career Change
